ACE evolves toward an autonomic research organism: continuous ingestion, distillation, and proposal loops that carry provenance, policy gates, and human-in-the-loop control.
Abstract. We outline how ACE ingests new Agentic-AI breakthroughs in real time, distills them into typed, attestable context, and autonomically proposes roadmap actions. Every step carries provenance (ACE::LEDGER), policy gates (StateGuard), and human-in-the-loop control (RAT).
1. Motivation & Goal
Shift research from passive archiving to reflexive evolution: the platform reads, reasons, experiments, and proposes changes—transparently and safely.
2. System Overview
Data Plane
- ALDL: continuous fetch/sync (arXiv, PWC, HF, GitHub releases), local mounts, delta detection.
- OCS / OCC / OCP: context standard, signed capsules, negotiation protocol.
- Summarizer / Validator: claim extraction, novelty scoring, citation linking.
Control & Governance
- ACE::CROWN: opportunity weighting, model-routing, prioritization.
- ACE::REGISTRY: service discovery, MCP capabilities, version surface.
- ACE::LEDGER: immutable attestations (ingest → verdict → action).
- StateGuard + RAT: policy barriers, risk annotations, HITL checkpoints.
3. Ingestion → Distillation → Proposal Loop
- Ingest: ALDL fetches artifacts; normalizes; stores in
00_incoming; writes attestations.
- Distill: OCS capsules generated (methods, metrics, ablations, safety notes).
- Validate: cross-attest against prior art; assign novelty & reproducibility scores.
- Route: CROWN routes capsules to owners (ACE::LEDGER, REGISTRY, CODELLM, etc.).
- Propose: MCP emits backlog suggestions (Jira tickets/Confluence briefs) with RAT gates.
- Experiment: sandbox replications; results logged to LEDGER; confidence updated.
- Merge & Publish.

5. Safety & Compliance
- Provenance: every transformation emits an attestation (hashes, timestamps, signer).
- Policy Guardrails: license checks, export controls, and model-card safety flags.
- HITL: human approval required at proposal → merge boundary unless low-risk template.
6. Operator Runbook (MVP)
- Configure ALDL sources (RSS/APIs/mounts); set cadence.
- Enable Summarizer/Validator routes to OCS/OCC pipelines.
- Map CROWN priorities → product epics.
- Connect MCP to Jira/Confluence; enable RAT checkpoints.
- Publish P2P/P2M dashboards; review weekly.
7. Roadmap
